About Jumping Arcade
Jumping Arcade is a small website dedicated to one kind of game: the jumping arcade game. Every game here is original, runs directly in your browser and is built around a single idea done well, whether that is timing a leap between pillars, climbing an endless column of platforms or flipping gravity to dodge obstacles.
What Jumping Arcade is
Jumping Arcade is a static website that hosts a collection of original browser games, practical gameplay guides and the policy pages you would expect from a responsible publisher. There are no accounts to create, no downloads and no installers. You open a game page, read the short instructions and start playing.
The site is run by the operator of Jumping Arcade and written and maintained by the Jumping Arcade Editorial Team. We keep the scope deliberately narrow. Rather than collecting every type of casual game, we focus on the jump: when to press, how high to go, where to land and how to recover when something goes wrong.
Our focus on jumping arcade gameplay
Jumping games are some of the most approachable games there are. Most use only one to three inputs, runs are short and the rules are easy to read from the screen. At the same time, they reward practice: a player who understands jump arcs, momentum and timing windows will go noticeably further than one who presses buttons at random.
That combination is what we design for. Each game on the site is built around a clear core mechanic, such as a swinging power meter, variable jump height, a double jump, wall-to-wall leaps or a gravity flip. Our gameplay guides then explain the ideas behind those mechanics in plain language, starting with what jumping arcade games are and moving on to topics like improving your jump timing and how jumping game physics works.
HTML5 browser gaming
All of our games are written in plain JavaScript and drawn with the HTML5 Canvas API. They use standard web technologies that modern browsers already support: requestAnimationFrame for smooth animation, the Web Audio API for sound effects generated in code, and pointer and keyboard events for controls. Because nothing needs to be installed, the same game works with a keyboard on a desktop computer and with touch controls on a phone or tablet.
Your personal best scores, recently played games, favorites and sound and theme preferences are saved only in your own browser using local storage. They are never sent to us. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what is stored and explains how to clear it.
Original game development
Every game on Jumping Arcade was developed for this site. Characters, platforms, thumbnails and sound effects are all generated in code; we do not use characters, logos, artwork or screenshots from other games. We describe genre conventions in generic terms and do not borrow from existing commercial titles. Our Copyright Policy explains this in more detail and tells you how to raise a concern if you believe something on the site infringes your rights.
Game categories
Games are organized into six categories. Many games belong to more than one, because a single game can combine several ideas.
- Endless Jumping Games: climb or run as far as you can in a run that only ends when you fall or crash.
- Platform Jumping Games: steer, jump and land on platforms that move, drift or crumble.
- One-Button Jump Games: a single input, where timing is everything.
- Double Jump Games: games that give you a second jump in mid-air and ask you to use it well.
- Obstacle Jumping Games: spikes, drones, hazards and rising lava to read and avoid.
- High Score Jumping Games: short, replayable runs built around beating your own best score.
You can also browse all games on one page.
How we test games before publishing
A browser game can look fine on the developer's machine and still fail on a phone, a smaller screen or a different browser. Before any game is published, and again after significant changes, we check it against the same internal list:
- Desktop keyboard play: every listed key works as described on the game page, including alternatives such as arrow keys and letter keys where offered.
- Mobile touch play: on-screen buttons or tap areas respond reliably and are large enough to press comfortably.
- Pause, restart and game over: the game can be paused and resumed, a new run starts cleanly, and the game-over screen appears when it should and shows the correct score.
- Score saving: personal best scores are saved in the browser and shown correctly on the next visit.
- No console errors: the game runs without JavaScript errors in the browser's developer console during normal play.
- Multiple screen sizes: the game area scales sensibly on small phones, tablets and wide desktop windows, in both light and dark themes.
If a game does not pass, it is not published until it does. If you find a problem we missed, please tell us through the contact page.
Editorial standards
Our guides and pages follow a written Editorial Policy. In short, content must be original, accurate and useful to someone who actually wants to play better or understand how these games work. Drafting tools, including AI-assisted drafting, may be used, but nothing is published without human review and editing. Advertising, if it is ever added to the site, will never influence which games we feature or what our guides say.
Statements about web technologies are checked against primary sources such as MDN Web Docs and the relevant W3C and WHATWG specifications, and statements about our games are checked by playing them. Our Fact-Checking Policy describes this process and explains how to request a correction.
Content quality principles
- Specific over generic: advice should point to a mechanic, a timing window or a habit you can practice, not vague encouragement.
- Accurate game descriptions: we describe only features the games actually have.
- Plain language: terms like hitbox, momentum or variable jump height are explained when they first appear.
- No filler: if a section does not help the reader, it does not belong on the page.
- Kept current: when a game changes, the related descriptions and guides are reviewed and updated.
What we don't do
Being clear about what we avoid is part of being trustworthy. On Jumping Arcade you will not find:
- Fake rankings, "top rated" badges or star ratings that are not based on real data.
- Invented reviews, testimonials or player quotes.
- Made-up statistics such as player counts, play totals or survey results.
- Online leaderboards presented as if they exist. Scores are stored only on your device.
- Claims that playing games improves your health, intelligence or cognitive abilities.
- Invented authors, credentials or awards. Content is published under the name of the editorial team.
